TRIP NAME: THE GARHWAL TREK TO TUNGANATH

Day 01: Delhi – Haridwar (Overnight train)
Depart from Old Delhi at 2350 pm. For train to Haridwar

Day 02: Haridwar – Trail Head – Lake Camp (hour bus ride, 2 hour trek, Overnight in camp 2300m)
Pick up from Haridwar Railway Station to Sari. Travel into the Garwhal by Local bus. We follow the Ganges Valley in the morning with many stops to view the beautiful scenery and monkeys en route. After lunch we arrive at the trail head from where we walk uphill for 2 hours to the idyllic lakeside camp at Deoriatal. Dinner is prepared in camp with views across to the Himalayan peaks.

Day 03: Lake Camp – Chopta (6 hour trek, Overnight in camp 2990m)
A full day’s walk following the pilgrim trail across open pasture and through thick forest to the camp at Chopta. Today’s ascent is gradual, but steady. We set a pace to suit the group so there’s plenty of time to enjoy the surroundings. Dinner is prepared in camp, the mountain peaks are getting closer!

Day 04:  Chopta – Tunganath – Chopta (5 hour trek, Overnight in camp 2990m)
Following a hearty breakfast we make our final ascent. Tunganath  perches on the slopes of the 3900m Chandra Shilla mountain. Our walk up Chandra Shilla is made all the more challenging because of the ever thinning air but the trail is in good condition and the going underfoot is easy. As we approach 3700m, a whole new vista to the north opens up and there, glinting in the sun, is the golden roof of  Tunganath. After lunch we return to the camp at Chopta to celebrate our success!

Day 05: Chopta – Haridwar (7 hour bus ride, Overnight train)
Dropping out of the mountains we return to the mighty Ganges. We’ll see the sacred ghats at the confluence of the Bagirathi and Alaknanda rivers which together form the Ganges itself. Late evening train to Delhi

Day 06:Haridwar – Delhi ( 4 hours train ) 
Evening departure transfer to Haridwar Railway Station ,board the overnight train to haridwar Dehradun shatabdi Exp.2018 Arrive Delhi at 22:30 Hrs

Travel Agents Association of India Indian Mountaineering Foundation (IMF) as an apex national body, has the objective of organising, supporting and providing a base for expeditions for mountaineering, skiing, rock climbing, trekking at high altitudes. Foreigners can climb mountain peaks in India after obtaining the required clearances.
